What we do
Connections and metering, without the wait.
In NSW, only an Accredited Service Provider at Level 2 can work on the connection between your property and the electricity network — the service line, the point of attachment and the metering. A standard electrician can wire your home, but they can’t connect, disconnect or upgrade your supply.
Gold Cape Electrical holds Level 2 accreditation in all categories, so you don’t need to book a second contractor and wait for them to fit you in. We look after the paperwork and notifications with the network, do the work, and keep you or your builder updated along the way.
We work across the Byron Shire and Northern Rivers on new homes, renovations, rebuilds and commercial sites.

Questions
Frequently asked
What is a Level 2 electrician?
A Level 2 Accredited Service Provider (ASP) is an electrician accredited in NSW to work on the network side of your supply — connecting and disconnecting properties, installing and repairing overhead and underground service lines, and installing metering. Most electricians are not Level 2 accredited.
Do I need a Level 2 for a switchboard upgrade?
Often, yes. If the supply needs to be isolated at the pole or pit, or the meter needs to move, a Level 2 is required. Because we do both, your switchboard upgrade and the Level 2 work can be done by the same team, usually in one visit.
How long does a new connection take?
It depends on the network’s requirements for your site and how far along the build is. We lodge the paperwork early, tell you what’s needed and keep you posted, so the connection isn’t holding up your handover.
Do you work outside Byron Bay?
Yes. We cover the Byron Shire and surrounds, with no travel fee within 75 km of Byron Bay — including Bangalow, Mullumbimby, Suffolk Park, Lennox Head, Ballina and Brunswick Heads.
